Mo Reda
About:
Mo Reda is an artist-curator, researcher, and cultural practitioner whose work explores the relationship between individual realities and the collective agreements that shape social, cultural, and political realms. His practice is grounded in long-term research, transnational collaboration, and the development of platforms that foster dialogue across the Global South, with a particular focus on the cultural geographies of the Indian Ocean.
Reda initiated The Indian Ocean Artists Exchange, a transnational platform for artistic collaboration and exchange, and has developed projects in partnership with leading international institutions and platforms, including the Jogja Biennale (Indonesia), Kochi-Muziris Biennale (India), Tashkeel (Dubai), Langgeng Art Foundation (Indonesia), 1Shanthiroad Studio/Gallery (India), Makan Art Space (Jordan), and Kiosko Art Space (Bolivia). He has also co-curated two editions of the Santa Cruz de la Sierra Biennale (Bolivia), bringing together artists and curators from across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Latin America.
His curatorial practice examines artistic exchange beyond conventional geopolitical boundaries, fostering long-term collaborations between artists, institutions, and local communities through shared histories, contemporary practices, and critical dialogue, with a particular focus on the politics of mobility at both regional and international scales.
Reda received his BFA from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and was awarded the Adrie Piek Prize. Born in Kuwait City, his practice is rooted in the interconnected cultural landscapes of the Indian Ocean, spanning Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
