Salha AlSubaiei

Salha Alsubaiei is a Qatari artist and educator who explores themes of mental state and personal stories through paintings, sculptures, and installation. Salha graduated from VCUQ with a BFA in Painting and Printmaking, and a minor in Art History. She participated in exhibitions such as “Work-in-progress” in 2022 with her artwork titled ‘Perfection’ which tackled mental fragility, and “Dimensions of Consciousness” in 2024. She was part of the art residency program at Fire Station 2024-2025 (AIR 9), and exhibited her final installation in the exhibition “Portals in Flux”. Most of her works seem bright, playful, and childish, but revolve around dark and heavy subjects which leaves the audience with an unsettling feeling. She explains that she tries to bring out her complex inner world through dolls and childish imagery to try and connect with the world outside of her mind.
